Baker City, Oregon
Beloved teacher and longtime resident, Anjeletta Sandidge Clark of Baker City, passed away May 10th a few days short of her 86th birthday. Although born in Pocatello, Idaho on May 16, 1931, Ann lived most of her life in Baker City, Oregon. Her father, William Elroy Sandidge of Kentucky, and Ruby Marie Wayne Sandidge of Idaho, married in Boise in 1924 but the family resided in Baker City not long after, where Ann's brother John Blakly Sandidge was born in 1940. She attended Baker City High School, graduating in 1949.
Ann taught piano lessons during high school, and sang at churches, weddings and funerals, employment that would continue throughout her lifetime. Her love of teaching led her to return to college at the age of 30 where she received her teaching degree. Ann taught first grade and was the music director at Haines Elementary school many years.
Ann and her husband Don had two children. Their daughter Lynda, began her career as an attorney but felt the call to the ministry and after graduating from Berkley Seminary, was ordained and called as the pastor of a church in Indianapolis. Ann's son Wayne graduated from Eastern Oregon College and was first a research chemist but received a second degree from Seattle University in software engineering and has been employed by Microsoft for the remainder of his career.
Ann and her husband volunteered in a variety of ways throughout their lifetimes and enjoyed traveling. Her love of teaching overlapped into other interests and she taught landscaping and horticulture to prisoners working at the local library for 20 years. She also taught packaging at the Baker Food Co-op. Ann enjoyed swimming at the local pool and, of course, even taught a little there.
At the age of 25, Ann joined the Christian Science Church and volunteered there for the rest of her life, playing the organ and teaching.
Ann Clark was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Baker City native, Donald Rinard Clark. She was also preceded in death by her eldest child, daughter, Lynda Ann Clark of Salem, Oregon, who lost her battle with cancer in 2014.
Ann is survived by her son, Wayne Alphus Clark of North Bend WA. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Jeremy Golar of Henderson, NV, Ruth Golar of Albuquerque, NM, and Lucien Golar of Scappoose, OR. Great grandchildren include Bailey, Riley and Elsie Golar.
Funeral Services will be held May 25th, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at First Church of Christ, Scientist, 2210 Washington (at 3rd) Baker City OR. A reception will follow at Coles Tribute Center, 1950 Place St., Baker City.
Flowers are welcome, however, should friends desire, a contribution in Ann's name to the First Church of Christ, Scientist would also be a lovely tribute to our dear one. You may send donations to Gray's West & Co. Pioneer Chapel at 1500 Dewey Ave. Baker City, OR 97814.
