Baker City, Oregon

Cheryl Ann Eddy, 75, of Baker City, Oregon, passed away on November 4, 2026, in Baker City. A public celebration of her life will be held in the future. Details will be announced once confirmed.

Cheryl was born March 1, 1951, in Prairie City, Oregon, to Robert O. “Jack” and Lyla Lea (Hill) Eddy. She graduated from Baker High School in 1969 and Southern Oregon University in 1975.

Baker Valley always held a special place in Cheryl’s heart. Returning home from college, she would round the corner at Ladd Canyon and see the valley spread before her. The sight brought tears to her eyes and the happiness of being home.

During a return from college, Cheryl worked at Cedar Manor, where head nurse Zona Clarke became her mentor and inspired her to pursue nursing. Cheryl returned to school and later joined Zona at St. Elizabeth Hospital, where Zona was the nurse manager. Cheryl served as a registered nurse there for 33 years before retiring in 2008. Her professional accomplishments included AACN, ENA, and her qualifications as a Neonatal Resuscitation Provider and PALS Provider.

Caring for others was central to Cheryl’s life. Former patients often approached her around town to tell her how grateful they had been to see her when they arrived at the hospital. She loved being a nurse and helping people, and her presence brought comfort.

Cheryl married Douglas Moramarco in Baker City on February 14, 2003. She enjoyed birdwatching, feeding wildlife, golfing, playing bridge, crafts, sewing and quilting. Her activities included the Ladies Golf and Bridge Club, DAR, service as a 4-H leader, the State Trauma Advisory Board, work as an ONA negotiator and volunteering with the Red Cross.

Cheryl is survived by her husband, Douglas Moramarco of Baker City; sisters Diana Smith (Steve), Jo Eddy and Susan Watt (Brian), all of Baker City, and Julie Eddy of The Dalles.

She was preceded in death by her parents; nephew Mat Gowdy; niece Emily Smith; and grandparents Carl and Grace Eddy and Lyle and Stella Hill.

Cheryl’s caring and charitable spirit reached well beyond her nursing career. She helped many friends through hardships, giving generously and keeping those friendships close through the years. She will be deeply missed by the family, friends and countless people whose lives she touched.

Memorial contributions may be made to Best Friends in Baker City.
