Following his service in the police force, David became a truck driver, a career he embraced for 28 years before retiring in 2007.

In 1961, David married Wanda Jean Boyd, and together they had two sons, Steven and David “Scott” Hawkins. Though their marriage ended in 1989, David found love again and remarried in 1997 to Phyllis Hansen, with whom he shared many happy years until her passing in 2016.

David had a passion for life and enjoyed fishing, bowling, riding motorcycles and snowmobiles, camping, and most importantly, spending time at his beloved cabin in Bourne, Oregon.

David is survived by his sons, Steven and David “Scott” Hawkins; his brother, Carl Hawkins; his sister, Esther Ray; 7 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Cora Hawkins; his beloved wife, Phyllis Hawkins; and his nephew, Kevin Hawkins.
