Don "DJ" James Hutton Obituary (1954 - 2016)

Donald "DJ" James Hutton, 62, of Baker City, OR passed away on August 17, 2016 at his residence under the care of Heart 'n Home Hospice. Private family services will be held at a later date. Gray's West & Co. Pioneer Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. On February 9, 1954, Donald James was welcomed into the world by John Hutton and Shirley Veronica (Riley) Hutton in Troy, New York. Donald attended high school in Simi Valley, California and graduated in 1972. After high school he attended Moorpark College in Moorpark, California until 1973. He was married to Shelley Paige on November 19, 1983 and together they had three wonderful children. DJ was a devoted husband and father. Donald worked as a heavy equipment operator for the City of Simi Valley in California and later for the City of Baker City in Oregon. He retired in December of 2010 after working for the City of Baker City for 33 years. Donald was highly respected by his co-workers and will be remembered as a very hard worker. DJ had a knack for growing the most beautiful tomatoes, he had a green thumb and when it came to tomatoes, he grew the best! When he wasn't focusing on his tomatoes he enjoyed tending his garden, canning, woodworking (which he was very talented at!), and refinishing furniture; the results were beautiful! He leaves behind his wife Shelley Hutton of Baker City, his daughter Nicole Fischer of Boise, Idaho, his son Joe Hutton of Baker City, Oregon and another son Mike Hutton also of Baker City, Oregon. DJ also leaves behind two brothers; John Hutton of Kevin, Montana and Ron Hutton of Baker City, Oregon. DJ is preceded in death by his parents John and Shirley Hutton.
