Frederick “Fred” Maxwell Jr., 81, of Baker City, OR passed away on February 12, 2025, at his residence. Fred was born on February 26, 1943, in San Francisco, California to Frederick Maxwell Sr. and Ethel (Duelfur) Maxwell. A celebration of life will be planned and announced at a later date.
Fred graduated from Valsetz High School in Valsetz, OR in 1962. Shortly after completing High School, Fred joined the Marine Corps to serve his country. He served from 1964 until his discharge in 1969. He then went on to become a custom auto body professional until his retirement.
Fred married the love of his life, Pamela Maxwell, and together, they raised a beautiful family. Their love remained strong for over 55 years.
You could find Fred taking in a sunset or watching a storm rolling in. Frederick loved the outdoors, fishing, and hustling a game of pool, but most of all loved being a Papa. He always played a funny prank or two on his grandsons and truly enjoyed watching them grow up.
Fred was talented, funny and always made people around him laugh. If you knew him, you were guaranteed to be friends with him. Fred had a great relationship with all of his siblings and even a few close friends he considered family as well. He loved them very much. To Fred, there was not much more to life. We will all miss his quick wit and funny jokes.
Fred is survived by his daughter, Christina (Clay McEnroe) Smith of Baker City; his sons, Frederick (Heidi) Maxwell of Salida, Colorado, and Preston Maxwell of Baker City.
Fred is preceded in death by his beloved wife Pamela Maxwell.
