George Johnson

George Johnson, 95, of Baker City, Oregon, passed away on July 26, 2026, at his residence.

George Alonzo Johnson was born on August 24, 1930, in Baker City to Vernon and Leta (Wirth) Johnson. He attended Baker High School.

On June 16, 1948, George married Clarice Daniels in Baker City. They shared 66 years of marriage before her death on September 26, 2014.

George worked as a rancher and millworker and was employed by Ellingson Timber. Away from work, he enjoyed fishing and hunting.

George is survived by his daughters, Leslie Jones of Baker City and Susan Schneider of Terrebonne, Oregon; his sons, Bill Johnson of Baker City and Richard Johnson of Anchorage, Alaska; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Clarice; his parents; his brothers and sister; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A public service honoring George will be held on September 19, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Community Connections, with lunch to follow. George will be privately interred with Clarice at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
