Larry Hatfield, age 76, passed away peacefully at his home in Baker City, Oregon on December 22, 2022.\nBorn in June 1946, Larry was one of five children who grew up on a working farm in Greenville, Ohio. He met his future wife Darlene Haney at church camp at age 16, and they were married three years later. They celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary this past July.\nAlways an independent spirit, Larry was self-employed for most of his career, running his own design business as a tooling engineer in the plastics industry. He loved woodworking, and after he retired, he ran his custom woodworking business from his shop in John Day, Oregon.\nLarry had many qualities that defined him and his life. He was a man of great integrity, honesty, principles, and unwavering faith. And everyone who met him experienced his great sense of humor, which stayed with him right through his final days.\nLarry was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and one of his seven grandsons. He will be greatly missed by his wife, Darlene, and his children Jeff (Susan) Hatfield of Tempe, AZ, Janelle (Bill) Davis of Pinole, CA, and Jason (Sarah) Hatfield of Baker City, OR. Also, by his two sisters, Bev (Dennis) Fourman of Greenville, Ohio, and Shirley (Stan) Hicks of Eaton, Ohio. Larry loved his grandsons, and they will miss their grandpa.\nLarry loved kids, and frequently donated to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
