Maxine Joan Croft Warren passed away on May 19, 2017, as a result of dementia and strokes. Maxine was born December 4, 1932. She was the oldest daughter of LaVell A. and Vera Richins Croft. As a young girl, the family lived in several houses built by LaVell in Provo. They moved to State Street in Orem when Maxine was in junior high.
Maxine graduated from Lincoln High in 1950, where she excelled in music (accordion) and art (painting). During this time, the family grew gladiolas commercially and it was through these beautiful flowers that she met her future husband, Lewis F. Warren. They married November 8, 1952 and moved to Clearfield where Lewis worked at Hill Field Air Force Base. It was there that, during a revival meeting, Maxine was introduced to the one true gospel and accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior. David Lee and Roger LaVell were additions to the family during their time in Clearfield. The little family then moved back to Orem where Lewis worked for US Steel, Geneva Works, and Pipemills Division. Lewis F, Carolyn, Jeanette, and Larry Edward finished the family.
Maxine enjoyed painting, playing the piano, baking, sewing, picnics, hamburgers, green beans, canning tomatoes, crossword puzzles, The Price is Right, card games, reusing Gold'n Soft Margarine containers, clipping coupons and long-term freezer food storage.
She loved her Lord, her husband, her family and her dogs.
Maxine suffered a stroke in November 2016 and Lewis and Maxine left their home of 58 years and moved to Baker City, Oregon to be near their daughter. Maxine continued to decline and in February of 2017, she was moved to Ashley Manor Assisted Living where she was given excellent care for the remainder of her life.
Maxine was preceded in death by her father LaVell, her mother Vera, and her oldest son David Lee.
She is survived by her husband Lewis, her sons Roger and wife Beverly, Warren, Lewis and his wife Cindy Warren, Larry and his wife Stephanie Warren and her daughter, Carolyn Kerbs and husband Paul, as well as thirteen grandchildren, twenty three great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, her sister Myrleen Croft and her husband Max Healy and many other loving family and friends.
Maxine was a long time member of both the First Baptist Church in Provo, Utah and the First Baptist Church of Pleasant Grove, Utah. She taught Sunday school for over 30 years and played the piano for the worship service for over ten years. There will be a celebration of life at the First Baptist Church in Pleasant Grove, located at 344 E Center Street, Pleasant Grove, Utah, 84062 on June 10, 2017 at 11:00 A.M.
