Robert Michael Warner, affectionately known as Bob or Uncle Bob, passed away at his residence in Baker City, Oregon, on July 8th, 2025, at the age of 98. Friends and family are invited to a celebration of his life on July 25th, 2025, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3048 in Baker City.
Bob was born March 3rd, 1927, in Patton, Pennsylvania, to Joseph Donald Warner and Mary Frances (McNulty) Warner. He split his high school years between Patton High School and Metropolitan High School. In April of 1945, Bob enlisted in the United States Army, earning the rank of Private First Class. He was honorably discharged in December of 1946. After his separation from the Army, Bob pursued higher education through National Schools, graduating in 1948, and West Coast University, graduating in 1951.
Bob later began a career as an inspector for Sperry Flight Systems & Subsidiaries. He loved working on aircraft gyroscopes during his time as an inspector and had collected many specialized tools used in his craft. Bob retired in 1985 after 34 years of work. He missed working as an inspector, but he enjoyed retirement as well.
Bob met and started a relationship with Dani Huck in February of 2007. Their relationship flourished over the past 18 years. Together, they went on many adventures and took pride in their “fur babies”.
Bob’s many years on this earth gave him the opportunity to enjoy a wide variety of hobbies. He dedicated time to perfecting his skills in leatherworking and wood craft. He had a passion for motorcycles and was associated with a motorcycle club based out of La Grande. A lifetime member of the VFW, he was also a talented pool and shuffleboard player, earning multiple trophies over the years. In his downtime, Bob enjoyed relaxing with a good book or watching a few episodes of Ancient Aliens or Formula 1 racing.
Beginning in the early ’90s, Bob dedicated thousands of hours and drove thousands of miles volunteering for the Disabled American Veterans organization. He provided free transportation to veterans in need and also served as a coordinator. His work with the organization was extremely important to him, and he earned several certificates and awards in recognition of his efforts. He retired from this role in 2023.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary Warner, and his sisters, Rose Ann and Mary Elizabeth.
Survivors include his partner, Dani Huck of Baker City, Oregon. His niece, Francie and her husband, Mark, of Baker City, Oregon. His son, Robert of Roswell, New Mexico and several grand nieces and nephews.
