Wesley R. Dickison, 84, of Baker City died March 1st, 2015 at St. Alphonsus Medical Center in Baker City. A graveside service was held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 4th at Mount Hope Cemetery in Baker City, Oregon.\n\nWesley was born April 19, 1930 in Baker City, Oregon to Marcus and Olive (McConnell) Dickison. He spent his childhood in Sumpter Valley attending schools in McEwen and Sumpter. Wesley was left without a father at the age of nine when his father died as a result of a logging accident.\n\nHe worked many jobs during his youth including working and staying with Albert and Myrtle Queen and haying for Brooks Hawley and others. In 1947 Wesley started working as a Wenchman on the Sumpter Valley Gold Dredge when he was called into the military. He spent 4 years in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant. He enjoyed the Air Force very much while stationed at Nellis Air Force Base working most of those years on the flight line with F86's, T33's and F80's.\n\nOn February 23, 1963 Wesley married Kathryn Bauder in Baker City. They recently celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary. They spent their working years living in the beautiful San Francisco Bay area and Sonoma County Wine country. He worked as a bus driver for Greyhound Lines and Golden Gate Highway Transportation for 30 years and retired in 1988. He never tired of seeing the Golden Gate Bridge on his daily travels to San Francisco.\n\nWes and Kathryn had two sons, Scott and Randy, who were the light of his life. He enjoyed helping with Little League, camping, vacationing every year in Baker County, the San Francisco 49'ers and the San Francisco Giants!\n\nIn 1995 they returned to Baker City. They enjoyed traveling extensively visiting their children and adored grandchildren.\n\nWesley is survived by his wife, Kathryn, sons Scott and his wife Christine with granddaughters Madison and Paley of Austin, Texas and Randy and his wife Tara with grandsons Cameron and Kristopher of Austin Texas. His brother Paul and wife Nancy of Tennessee, sisters-in-law Delores (Rod) of Baker City, Oregon, Jo (Andy) of Baker City, Oregon and Aletha (Jim) of California, a special niece Donna (Hudspeth) Case (Leo) of Baker City, Oregon, sister and brother-in-law Mary Jane and Lee Hackwith of Baker City, Oregon, brother and sister in law, Keith and Patsy Bauder of Pilot Rock, Oregon and many many much loved nieces and nephews.\n\nWesley was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Andrew and wife Betty Dickison, Wilson and wife Nadine, Jim Dickison and Rod Dickison, sister Carrie (Dickison) and Ernest Hudspeth and mother and father in law, Ed and Agnes Bauder.\n\nThe family would like to offer a special thank you to the nurses and other caregivers at Heart and Home Hospice and St. Alphonsus Medical Center as well as Spiritual Care Provider, Gail Wood.
