Wright Gregg

–

Unity, Oregon

Wright George Gregg, born on July 16, 1951, in Burns, Oregon, passed away on August 12, 2024, in Boise, Idaho.

Wright was the beloved son of George and Evelyn (Sevey) Gregg. He graduated from Vale High School in Vale, Oregon, in 1969. Over the years, Wright built a diverse career, working as a logger, trucker, cowboy, firefighter, heavy equipment operator, mechanic, and as a jack of all trades. He owned and operated Wright Gregg Truckin’ for 30 years.
Wright married Debbie Dunbar on November 18, 1972, in Unity, Oregon, and together they shared a life full of love, adventure, and family.

An avid outdoorsman, Wright enjoyed hunting, fishing, rodeo, snowmobiling, ATVs, dancing, playing guitar, and singing karaoke. His passion for life extended to his dedication to his community, where he served as Fire Chief for the Unity Volunteer Fire Department, worked with Burnt River Emergency Services, and held the position of President for the Western States Junior Rodeo Association.

Wright’s greatest pride and joy were his two hard-working children and his cherished role as a grandfather. He was a mentor to many, especially in youth bull riding, where he found immense satisfaction helping his grandsons, Tom and Steven, down on their bulls. Wright’s impeccable work ethic was evident in every aspect of his life, particularly in his dedication as a "bull hauler." He was always on time and ensured his trailer was clean and ready to load cattle, often going above and beyond to help others, even if it meant longer hours for himself.

Wright lived life to the fullest, never meeting a stranger, and always willing to lend a helping hand. Even in his final days, he continued to work and care for his family, spending his last day at home with his grandsons, building a fence, and working on his motorhome.

He is survived by his loving wife, Debbie Gregg of Unity, Oregon, his daughter, Denise Shreve (Asa) of Baker City, Oregon, his son, Josh Gregg (Corey) of Unity, Oregon, and his brother, Fred Gregg (Tonya) of Crescent Valley, Nevada. Wright is also survived by six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Evelyn (Sevey) and George Gregg.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Gray’s West & Co. Pioneer Chapel. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery at 11:30 AM. A celebration of Wright’s life will take place afterward at the Frontier Restaurant/Saloon in Haines, Oregon.

“Roll on, Papa” – We love you!
